Jason Hughes is an artist and curator who has lived in downtown Baltimore since 1996. In 2008, Hughes co-founded The Library, a mixed-use exhibition space that also offers video production services and hosts weekly yoga classes. Within it’s first year, The Library was recognized as one of the “Ten Best Reasons for Artists to Live in Batlimore”, 2008 – (Ten Tigers and BmoreArt); and the featured exhibition Cliff Evans: EMPYREAN was ranked #7 in "The Year in Art Top 10" - (Baltimore City Paper 2008).

Hughes’ is represented by Curator’s Office in Washington DC and has exhibited his work nationally and internationally since 2005. He has received several awards for both his studio and curatorial practice over the last decade and was a recent finalist for the prestigious Jacques and Natasha Gelman Travel Award in 2005 as well as the Janet and Walter Sondheim Prize in 2006, each worth $25,000. In 2004, Hughes graduated cum laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art after receiving several merit-based educational scholarships that enabled his study at MICA as well as a 2003 semester at the New York Studio Program.

In 2006, he was awarded a residency fellowship to attend the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. That same year, his curatorial project Material Matters for Maryland Art Place's 25th anniversary featured artists from across the US, Central America, and Europe and was subsequently honored as the "Best Gallery Show of 2006" - (Baltimore City Paper).

Hughes was a founding member of the heralded 10,000 sq ft artists’ run live/work/exhibition space Gallery Four from 1996-2007. In 2002, the Baltimore City Paper honored it as “The Best Proof of Contemporary Art Life in Baltimore.” Gallery Four has also received awards and honors from Baltimore Magazine and the Washington Post. In addition to maintaining his creative practices, he is also currently Exhibitions Coordinator for School 33 Art Center.
